Ashly Audio’s promise to “Simplify Integration” continues with pêma (Protea

Equipped Media Amplifier), a unique powered processor. Pêma sets a new

industry benchmark for value-engineered zone sound systems. By seamlessly

merging Ashly’s powerful, open-architecture DSP functionality with Ashly’s

renowned amplifier performance inside a two-rack space unit, pêma low-

ers overall system cost, occupies less space, improves energy efficiency,

and both speeds and simplifies system installation and programming. Four

and eight amplifier channel versions are available at both 125 and 250

Watts per channel. Full 96kHz performance is available on 32-bit SHARC

processors for utterly transparent audio. Depending on the configuration,

pêma’s MSRP spans a modest $2,000 to $4,000, putting its benefits-to-costs

ratio through the roof.

Pêma changes the way consultants and integrators approach sound sys-

tem design. With only the addition of input sources and output speakers,

pêma is capable of handling everything else for small- to mid-sized sound

systems. Pêma is a ‘house-of-worship-in-a-box’ or a ‘restaurant-in-a-box’

or a ‘bar-in-a-box’ or a ‘you-name-it-in-a-box.’ Pêma delivers an elegant

solution with less cabling, less rack space, and less installation time, using

proven DSP and amplifier technology that will awe clients with its simplicity,

sophistication, and reliability.

In addition to DSP algorithms such as ambient noise compensation, ad-

vanced automatic feedback suppression, automatic mixer, and a full com-

plement of filters, EQs, delays, and the like, pêma offers DSP control of the

amplifier functionality as well: selection of bridge-mode operation, HPF set-

tings for constant voltage system networks, stereo-linking of channel pairs,

MIC/LINE/TEL-PAGE functions on channel 1, full control of ducking priorities,

and full-range remote-gain control capability.

Pêma’s I/O count and formats are ideal for small- to mid-sized installations.

Each variant has eight balanced input channels that are software select-

able for mic or line levels. The first channel may also be set for a transformer

isolated, TEL-PBX level. Additionally there are eight pairs of summed-mono

RCA connectors optimized for consumer line level devices. Eight preamp

auxiliary outputs allow integrators to route signals from the matrix mixer to

anywhere the system requires. Both CobraNet and EtherSound digital I/Os

are fully supported.

As a member of the respected Protea DSP lineage, pêma is remarkably

easy to program and deploy. All set up is accomplished using standard

10/100 Ethernet protocol and Ashly’s Protea NE Software on a PC platform.

Hot-plug DSP placement allows users to insert any function into any channel

block, even when running live audio. Automatic DHCP network IP configu-

ration reduces network set up time. Lockable front panel controls and multi-

level software security with password access guarantee a tamperproof

audio system.

PEMA – Der Welt erster Prozessor mit integriertem Verstärker. PEMA (Protea-Equipped-Media-Am-

pliﬁer) ist eine neue Deﬁnition für hochwertige Zonen-Sound-Systeme. Zwei System-Versionen stehen

zur Verfügung: PEMA 1 und PEMA 2, die jeweils 6 Modelle umfassen. Alle PEMA-Modelle sind mit

einer vollständigen Suite von Ashlys neuesten und weltweit beachteten Protea-Signal-Prozessoren,

einem 8 x 8 Matrix-Mixer und einem integrierten 4- oder 8-Kanal-Verstärker ausgestattet.

Die Endstufen sind direkt über den DSP steuerbar. PEMA-1-Modelle bieten eine Verstärker leistung

von 125 W pro Kanal an 4 Ω oder Konstantspannungsausgängen von 70/100 Volt. Bei den PEMA-

2-Modellen liegen die entsprechenden Ausgangsleistungen bei 250 W pro Kanal. Zusätzliche Ver-

stärkerfunktionen via DSP beinhalten z.B. Brückenbetrieb, HP-Filtereinstellungen für Konstantspan-

nungsnetze, Stereo-Linking von Kanalpaaren, MIC/LINE/TELPAGE-Funktionen auf Kanal 1, volle

Kontrolle der Ducking-Prioritäten sowie Gain-Ferneinstellung.

Jedes Modell hat 8 symmetrische Eingangskanäle, deren Pegel über Software wählbar sind

MIC (-36 dBu) oder LINE (+4 dBu). Der erste Kanal kann auf übertragerisolierten 600-Ω-Telefonpegel

umgeschaltet werden. 8 Cinch-Paare mit -10-dBV-Pegeln stehen monosummiert als Eingänge zur

Verfügung. Hinzu kommen 8 AUX-Ausgänge für das beliebige Routen des Signals vom Matrix-Mixer

zu den gewünschten Punkten im Gesamtsystem. Die beliebten DSP-Features der PEMAs bieten z.B.

Kompensation von Ambientgeräuschen, Feedbackunterdrückung und Automatic-Mixer. Alle DSP-

Funktionen arbeiten mit 32-Bit-SHARC-Prozessoren (bis 96 kHz).

Die gesamte Programmierung erfolgt über das Standard-Ethernet-Protokoll und Ashlys Protea-

NE-Software auf PC-Basis. Die DSP-Komponenten sind hot-plug-fähig. Das ermöglicht unter-

brechungsfreies Einfügungen oder Änderungen in jedem Kanalblock, bei Live-Audio sogar ohne

recompiling. Die Netzwerk-IP wird per DHCP automatisch zugewiesen. Die Bedienelemente auf

der Gerätefrontseite sind arretierbar. Ein Passwortschutz ist ebenfalls möglich.

Weitere Features: Netzwerk-Audio-Routing am Matrixmischer von den Eingängen auf die Ausgän-

ge. Acht Linkgruppen für die meisten Funktionen, automatischer Master-Clock-Switchover zwischen

Netzwerk- und interner Wortlänge, High-Performance analog- Audio, Dynamikbereich >114 dB,

Unterstützung von Ashlys digitalen Fernbedienungen, programmier bare 8-Kanal 5-V-Logik Ein-/
